Research Assistant

1. About Us

NanoFrontier is a research-driven startup that provides end-to-end solutions from design to mass production and quality assurance for materials in energy, environment, and pharmaceutical fields, centered around nanoparticle generation technology through reprecipitation method developed over many years at Tohoku University. We also provide nanoparticle manufacturing services and technology licensing, rapidly advancing joint research and PoC with manufacturers and academic institutions in Sendai (main base) and Tokyo (collaboration base).


2. Role & Responsibilities

At NanoFrontier, we need systems to stabilize daily experimental operations and improve research productivity. This position will handle ledger operations for reagents, equipment, waste liquid, SDS, and forms, as well as operational tasks including pretreatment, basic measurements, cleaning, and 5S. We’re looking for someone who can execute experiments with accuracy and organization.

3. Key Responsibilities

  • Support nanoparticle synthesis and evaluation experiments (reagent preparation, equipment operation, sample creation)
  • Prepare, operate, and record data from measuring instruments (DLS, etc.)
  • Record in lab notebooks, assist in updating protocols and SOPs (standard operating procedures)
  • Manage reagents and consumables, labeling, waste liquid treatment
  • Organize and maintain laboratories, assist in safety management
  • Create various materials and organize data according to researchers’ instructions

4. Requirements, Skills & Experience

Required

  • Alignment with NanoFrontier’s business and mission
  • Experimental experience in chemistry, materials, bio, etc. (regardless of school or workplace)
  • Basic PC operation skills (Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to accurately record lab notebooks and data

Preferred

  • Experience operating measuring instruments like DLS
  • Experience in laboratory safety management and waste liquid treatment
  • Experience using ELN (electronic lab notebooks)

5. Location & Work Style

  • Location: Sendai
  • Work style: 3-5 days in office per week (centered on experimental days)
  • Work hours: Full flex (core time 10:00-16:00)
